As a manager, I’m accountable for the team’s results. There’s nothing more frustrating than a direct report who doesn’t share the same sense of accountability.
Here are some example phrases you can use to keep your team accountable:
How to Keep Your Team on Track to Meet Project Deadlines
- “You know better than this.”
- “I shouldn’t hear, after the deadline, that it’s not done.”
- “What can you do to ensure that you meet your deadline?” OR “Why wouldn’t you be able to meet the deadline? And what can you do to fix that?”
- “It’s not enough for you to tell me that you understand. What are you going to do about it?”
- “You didn’t answer my question. Yes or no, are you going to meet the deadline?”
